Accused granted 30 million cedis bail for causing harm

Tema, Jan. 23, GNA – A Tema Circuit court last Thursday granted 30 million cedis bail to Kofi Otumfour, a resident of Ashaiman for allegedly biting off the lower lip of his friend. He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on February 15.

Police Inspector Adolphus Okyere, prosecuting said the accused and complainant were friends who reside at Ashaiman and during the morning of December 3, last year someone came to them looking for one Abotsi. He said the complainant took the man to Abotsi but the accused became offended and picked a quarrel with him (complainant).

The prosecutor said the accused attacked the complainant with his sandals and bit off his lower lip, complainant therefore, reported the incident to the Ashaiman North Police where he was issued with a medical form to the Tema General Hospital. He said after investigations, the accused was charged with the offence.
