Accra-Ho Transport official admonishes drivers to be cautious

Accra, June 30, GNA- Mr Ebenezer Zokta Yevuyibor, President of the Accra-Hohoe-Ho Co-operative Transport Society, has stressed the need for drivers to be very cautious while driving, in order to guard against motor accidents.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra at the weekend, Mr Yevuyibor noted that the carnage on the roads could be reduced to the barest minimum, if drivers do not have divided attention, but focused their minds on their vehicles. He asked drivers to attend to all mechanical faults on their vehicles in order to ensure that they are roadworthy before plying the roads. Mr Yevuyibor, w ho is also the Secretary of the Novotel Drivers’ Welfare Union, expressed grave concern about the high illiteracy rate among drivers.

He, therefore, appealed to the Ministry of Transport to organise training programmes for drivers to help equip them with basic skills and knowledge in driving. He advocated the formation of station watchdog committees to monitor the activities of drivers at all times, to ensure that they adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.
