Hundreds of residents in the GA West Municipal Assembly have been displaced as the assembly has started demolishing houses allegedly built on waterways at Mile 7, Achimota in Accra.

Starr News Esi Benewah Nyame reported that a washing bay and other adjoining houses have already been demolished in the exercise which is being led by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of GA West Municipal Assembly, Mr Attorquaye Quaye.

A filling station in the area has also been earmarked for demolition.

According to the assembly, the demolition exercise has become necessary following the deadly floods which have claimed over 150 lives in Accra.

The demolition exercise is expected to move on to other parts of the municipality including Ofankor and Amansaman.
