Accept posting to deprived areas – Kuagbenu

Kumasi, April 8, GNA – The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr Vincent Senam Kuagbenu, has appealed to students to acce= pt to work in deprived communities. He said they should be ready to serve in areas where their services=

are most needed and avoid excuses just to run away from such places. He was addressing a day’s pre-service orientation for final year students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in=

Kumasi.

It was aimed at helping them to have better understanding of wha= t the scheme was all about as they got ready to join it. Mr Kuagbenu told them that apart from offending the country’s laws, dodg= ing national service could also wreck their chances of securing jobs abroad. All 215 Ghanaians who sought jobs in the United Kingdom this yea= r had to produce their NSS Certificates, he said.

Kwesi Quainoo, the Ashanti Regional Director of the NSS, said postings are made based on requests made by organizations and institution= s. Mr Quainoo urged them to be patriotic and contribute their quota towards=

national development.
