Abrepo Junction motor accident claims eight lives

Kumasi, March 20, GNA – Eight persons died, four of them on the spot including the driver of a mini bus on which they were travelling collided with a grader on the Abrepo Junction-Barekese road in Kumasi on Sunday.

The other four died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) later, while two persons who sustained injuries were under intensive care at the KATH.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) James Sarfo Peprah, Ashanti Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) who briefed the Ghana News Agency on the accident in Kumasi on Monday, said it occurred between 1500 and 1600 hours on Sunday. He said police suspected that the driver might have lost control of the grader and ran into the mini-bus.

DSP Peprah said families of the deceased were assisting the police to identify the deceased at the KATH mortuary.
