Minister appeals to Gomoa East to stop fight over district capital

Gomoa Afransi C/R, Jan 7, GNA – The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, has appealed to chiefs and people of Gomoa East District to stop fighting over the citing of the district capital. He said citing the district capital at Gomoa Afransi was in the interest of the people of the district.

Nana Ato Arthur said this when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of Gomoa Afransi to climax their Akwambo festival at Gomoa Afransi on Saturday.

He said he was not happy about chieftaincy and land disputes in the region.

Ms Joyce Aidoo, District Chief Executive for Gomoa, said the assembly had taken measures to improve the performance of basic school children in the district. She said results of basic schools children in the district in the past two years were not encouraging. She appealed to the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme. Nana Ogyedom Obrenu Kwesi Atta VI, Chief of Gomoa Afransi, said the people would cooperate with the district assembly to ensure its proper functioning. He called peace and understanding among the people to ensure speedy development of the area.
