UEW Enrolment Rise To 23,262

Abidjan-Cocody, Dec. 26, GNA – The University of Education Winneba (UEW), recorded a total students enrolment of 23,262 as at September, this year. The figure comprised of 13,026 fulltime, 8,906 Distance Education, and 1330 Sandwich/Part Time.

Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, Vice Chancellor of the university announced these at an award ceremony at Abidjan-Cocody in Cote d’Ivoire. Three distinguish African academicians, Mr Bernard B Dadie, Mr Charles Kofi Diby both from la Cote d’Ivoire and Mr Fredric Titinga Pacere, from Burkina Faso, were awarded honorary PhD Degrees at the function, initiated by authorities of University of Charles Louis de…Montesquieu based in Abidjan-Cocody. Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw said out of the number, 35 percent were female.

He was giving an overview of activities at the University at the function, which was attended by several vice chancellors of a good number of African universities, including the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw said the UEW had eight faculties made up of 28 departments and run a wide range of full-time, sandwich and distance education programmes.
