Clergyman urges Christians not to devote much time for prayer sessions

Tafo, Nov. 12, GNA – Reverend Alex Amankwah, Eastern Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, last Sunday appealed to Christians to refrain from attending several prayer sessions instead of working for their sustenance.

He expressed concern about the tendency that had become normal to most Christians to move from a prayer camp to the other to seek salvation at the expense of productivity. Rev Amankwah addressing the 25th anniversary thanksgiving service of Rhema Assemblies of God Church at Tafo, condemned that attitude saying, that God expected Christians to work for their livelihood. He said it was only through hard work and sincere prayers that God would recognize the labour of Christians and improve upon their lives. Rev. Amankwah told the people that such acts amounted to laziness under the guise of prayers and urged Christians to concentrate on hard work.

He called on Christians to be involved in issues affecting the society and be bold to speak against social vices that would affect their rights.

Rev. Amankwah called on Christians to join in the political campaign to elect leaders for the country because Christianity did not frown on politics.

Rev. Moses Sumaila, Assistant General Superintendent of the church, in a sermon called on Christians to rally behind the word of God to transform the nation in development.

He noted that activities of Christians had not impacted positively on the socio-development of Ghana even though about 65 per cent of the population were Christians and urged them to live up to expectation. Rev. Odame Obuobi, Resident Pastor of the Church, appealed to members to live lives worthy of emulation to impact on the society as their contribution towards the growth of the Church.
