SSNIT donates computers to UDS

Tamale, May 17 GNA – The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), on Wednesday donated 10 computers and accessories valued at 40 million cedis to the University for Development Studies (UDS), in Tamale.

Nana Ansu Adjei, Northern Regional Manager of SSNIT said that the donation was part of a programme by the Trust to expose tertiary students to computer science.

Tamale Polytechnic has already benefited from the programme. He said that SSNIT had donated furniture and other logistics to support the University to improve its administration and to promote academic work.

Nana Ansu Adjei said that the Trust has moved beyond its mandate of providing students with loans and managing the workers pension scheme to such services to facilitate good community relations. He appealed to the university management to ensure that students get access to the computers.

Professor George Mensah, Pro Vice-Chancellor commended SSNIT for the donation and said efforts of the university to procure computers have been frustrated by the huge capital investment. He gave the assurance that the computers would be put to good use.
