Kumawuhene is Dead

NSOC 021Kumawu-Ashanti, July 14, GNA – The death has been reported of Barima Asumadu Sakyi II, Omanhene of Kumawu Traditional Area in Ashanti. Barima Asumadu Sakyi 65, died on Wednesday, July 11 at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra after a short illness.

He reigned for 34 years after succeeding his late uncle, Barima Otuo Acheampong I.

Confirming the death to Ghana News Agency at Kumawu on Friday, Baffour Atta Tweneboah, Chief of Bodomase and Nifahene of Kumawu Traditional Area said the Traditional Council would meet on Monday, July 15 to deliberate and come out with the final programme for the funeral. Baffour Tweneboah said the late Omanhene was indisposed shortly after celebrating the “Papa” festival in March this year and was hospitalised.
