At a packed meeting last Saturday in South London the NDC UK and Ireland elected a new branch executive for hold office for the next two years. In effect this is the formidable team that will join other executive grouping to propel the party for a 2008 victory.
The audacious Alex Segbefia was elected chairman unopposed. In addition the following retained their positions
Kwesi Dzirasa – Secretary
Sam Quaye – Assistant Secretary
Alfred Boyan – Organiser
Kwame Debrah – Treasurer
Albert Adjei – Assistant Treasurer
Diana Aidoo – Women Organiser
Emmanuel Osae, the Interim PRO was confirmed in post unopposed and Joe Gans-Lartey returned to the executive as Vice Chair.
The executive had an infusion of new and youthful blood. These are no lesser persons than following who have defended the party daily on the media front.

The election was under the supervision our able former District Chief, Mr William Ntow-Boahene and support by the Deputy National Organiser, Mr Ludwig Hlodze.
After the election Mr Hlodze swore the new executive into office. In his brief address admonished the executive stay united and focused as they have done in the past.
He continued that there are more than two thousand Ghanaian students in the UK. The Youth Wing must work to organise them in every university in the UK. Commenting on ROPAL, Mr Hlodze stated “The NDC party will not recognise ROPAL. The NDC is not afraid of ROPAL. We stand to benefit from it. However, until we can identify who is a Ghanaian in the Republic of Togoland, Mali, Cote D’Ivoire, Canada, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and other places then we shall end up in chaos”.
Alex Segbefia thanked the last executive for the unflinching support and dedication. He particularly thanked the immediate past vice chair, Bea Damanya for her steadfastness and commitment who stood down from the election. Bea had held the second position for over eight years.
In an enthused atmosphere the Mr. Segbefia called members to work hard for victory and advised members to get their tickets ready to go to Ghana in 2008 for the election. Amidst shouts of VICTORY! VICTORY! Alex said we are ready to take power and UK and Ireland branch would play its part actively. He said the opening of the Milton Keynes ward is the start of things to come – WATCH THE SPACE.
