Church leaders advised against thanksgiving gifts

Mankranso (Ash), April 9, GNA – Church leaders have been advised against asking bereaved families to purchase items such as wall clocks in remembrance of dead relations during thanksgiving services.

Pastor Akwasi Acheampong of the SDA Church in charge of Ahafo Ano South District said this during a similar service for a member of the church at Mankranso.

“This is not only a disgrace to the Church but also brings hardships to the families and at times even prevents some from attending or holding such services for departed family members,” he stated.

Pastor Acheampong urged Christians to accept the teachings of Christ and desist from rivalry, drunkenness, lawlessness, lust and envy. He said Jesus is the bread of life, adding: “If your enemy hungers, feed him, if he thirsts, give him a drink for, in so doing, you will heap coals of fire on his head”. Two people who attended the service were converted after the sermon.
