The Police Administration has denied that it is habours anti Nigeria sentiments.This was contained in a statement in reaction to a press conference in Lagos by one Chris Ogbechie who accused the Ghana police of anti Nigerian sentiment. held a press conference in Lagos at which he accused the Ghana Police of anti-Nigerian sentiments.
The statement said Chris Ogbechie has been mentioned as an accomplice to a crime in which five Nigerians are under investigations for attempted murder and false imprisonment of another Nigerian Deborah Ibeh. He is wanted by the police to assist with the investigations. The police said, “it is clear therefore that the press conference by Ogbechie is a sinister ploy to whip up emotions and put pressure on the Ghana Police to stop the investigations.
Five (5) persons all Nigerians were taken into custody by the CID for imprisonment and attempted murder of Deborah Ibeh on December 11, 1999.The police said it has established that the five suspects are all employees of two companies; Contact Marketing Services (Gh) Limited and Media Monitoring (Gh) Limited owned by Chris Ogbechie and partners.
The Police Administration stated that a Warrant has been obtained against Christ Ogbechie and the assistance of Interpol is being sought in this regard. The five suspects have been put before the Tribunal and granted court bail and ordered to report every Monday to the Police. Investigations still continue.
In another development, the Ministry of the Interior has also categorically denied the allegation that the law enforcement agencies in Ghana are targeting innocent and law-abiding Nigerians for harassment and persecution.
The Ministry has also dismissed the allegations made by Chris Ogbechie that the government of Ghana is considering the expulsion of aliens from the country. The Ministry stated that the law enforcement agencies will continue to abide by the letter and spirit of the ECOWAS treaty mindful of thes
