Agona Nkwanta (W/R) Feb 21, GNA-Papa Owusu Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports, on Tuesday called on teachers to inculcate the country’s traditional values into school children. The Minister noted that hard work and service to one’s community were essential standards that children needed for their development. Papa Ankomah was addressing students and staff of the Baidoo Bonsoe Secondary Technical School at Agona Nkwanta near Takoradi, as part of a two-day duty tour of the Western Region.
He said values would help mould the character of children and distinguish them as true Ghanaians when they “enter the world”.
Papa Ankomah advised students and pupils “Not to go after the world but to let the world go after them” and to spend their time profitably. He urged the students to take good care of facilities at the school and to take advantage of government’s educational programmes to acquire knowledge and skills required for national development.
Papa Ankomah commended the headmaster and staff of the school for working assiduously to uplift the image of the school.
He also praised the Ahantaman Rural Bank Limited for paying school fees of students and sponsoring others at tertiary institutions.
