Court Drug Watchman jailed 10 years for drug trafficking

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA – An Accra Regional Tribunal on Tuesday sentenced Tawiah Nanor, a watchman, to 10 years’ imprisonment in hard labour for possessing 74 pieces of Indian Hemp. Nanor, 38, pleaded not guilty to possession of narcotic drug without authority.

The prosecutor, Mrs Merley Wood, told the tribunal chaired by Mr Justice Wright Mensah that at about 1930 hours on August 16, last year, two policemen saw some passengers on a bus shouting around the Mexico School park at Community Two in Tema.

Mrs Wood said when the policemen went there, they found Nanor who emerged from the bush. He was arrested and sent to the police station where the hemp was found on him. GNA
