Unilever imports ‘Omo’ from South Africa

The Free Press reports that the chairman of Unilever Ghana Limited, Mr Ishmael Yamson, has explained that the company was importing ‘Omo’ because its factory at Tema could not produce the sort of washing powder which contains enzymatic substance like the Omo from South Africa, on the market.

Mr Yamson is said to have indicated that the decision, which was motivated purely on business basis, was taken to maintain the company’s customer base in fulfilment of its avowed policy of customer satisfaction as opposed to profit consideration.

The Unilever chairman was responding to a question on the issue, at a news conference in Accra last Monday, as part of the company’s week-long trade and exhibition forum.
