Kasotie (Ash), Dec 7, GNA – The chiefs and people of Kasotie in the Atwima-Mponua District have realized 4.3 million cedis at a fund-raising harvest they organized to support development projects. The projects include teachers’ quarters now under construction and a borehole.
Mr George Asamoah, the unit committee chairman of Kasotie, told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday that 2.5 million cedis out of the amount would be used for the borehole project.
Mr Asamoah said the local primary school, which is supposed to have six teachers, has only two teachers due to accommodation problems facing the teachers. He commended the people for their communal spirit and patriotism and appealed to the District Youth Employment Programme Co-coordinator to employ some of the youth in the town as community police to clamp down on criminals in the area. He also appealed to the district assembly to rehabilitate the six-kilometer Kasotie Junction/Kasotie road that had not been rehabilitated over the past 15 years. Mr Asamoah said due to the deplorable state of the road, farmers have to carry their cocoa and foodstuffs to Bibiani and Nyinahin, a distance of 25 and 30 kilometres respectively, for marketing.
