Fashion is no excuse for indecent dressing among women

Ho, Nov. 19, GNA-Mrs Selom Gbetodeme, Head of Fashion and Modeling Department of the Ho Polytechnic on Saturday said it was unpardonable for women to expose the sensitive parts of their bodies under the guise of fashion. She said such exposures undermined their dignity, as they tend to look cheap and available to every man.

Mrs Gbetodeme said this at this year’s fashion show of her department, which was on the theme, ” Enlightening Fashion Trends”. She stated that womanhood, in itself is beautiful and that women could be fashionable without necessarily exposing their ” inner beauty”. ” Much of our beauty lies within and the best we can is to protect and cover it with our dressing”, Mrs Gbetodeme said and that, modernity has nothing to do with nudity.

She therefore called on young women to let their dressing speak well of them as ladies of substance and value.

Dr K.A Dzisi, Principal of the Polytechnic called on student designers to come out with their own creative designs and make names for themselves rather than being content with copying others. He admonished them to let the competitive spirit that saw them through their academic work find expression as they entered the job market where the competition becomes fiercer and demanding. Dzifa Tsiagbe, a fashion student said everybody has an inborn fashion but expressing requires creativity and innovation. In all, 11 students showcased collections including casual, formal, bridal, evening and beach attires among others.
