Unilever Ghana supports nine Orphanages and TGH

Tema, Nov 8, GNA — Unilever Ghana on Tuesday presented a total of 600 cartons of Omo washing soap worth 100 million cedis to the Tema General Hospital (TGH) and nine orphanages in Tema. Some 300 cartons each went to the TGH and the nine orphanages at separate ceremonies in Tema.

The beneficiary orphanages are Orphanage Africa, in Accra, Orphanage Cry, Apowa, Adullam Orphanage, at Obuasi Father’s Home and JIK Orphanage both at Takoradi.

The rest are Solidarity for Youth and Disabled at Kumasi, Trinity Home Foundation, Akropong, the new Covenant Centre, Nuaso and Historic Adventist Forster Home at Besease.

Mr Kwaku Boateng, Supply and Chain Director of Unilever who presented the items, said it formed part of the company’s contribution to cleanliness and hygiene in those homes particularly as they prepare for Christmas.

“As the end of the year approaches, one’s thoughts sometimes tend to reflect on these brothers and sisters and what Christmas may mean to them. This is the time that we believe we should extend some love and care.”

The Country Representative of Opportunities Industrialisation Centre (OIC) Ghana, Ms Carla Dominique Denizard, received the items and thanked Unilever and expressed the hope that it would be sustained to strengthen the relationship between the company and OIC. She said OIC, an international non-governmental organisation, has been in the country for the past 37 years and is into community developments.

The items for the TGH were received by Dr Mrs Charity Sarpong and expressed her appreciation to the donors.
