Defeated candidate attempts suicide

Nkwanta (V/R), Oct. 12, GNA – A defeated candidate in the recent District Assembly elections in the Nkwanta District has attempted to commit suicide by drinking a poisonous substance for loosing the elections.

The candidate, Badagafi Taabikina, 37, a farmer, who contested the Ofusu/Tutukpene electoral seat with two others, was very optimistic about his chances to win the elections but lost.

A reliable source told the Ghana News Agency that Taabikina was rushed to the Nkwanta District Hospital where he was admitted and discharged after three days.

Dr J. Koku Awoonor-Williams, Doctor in-charge of the Nkwanta Hospital, confirmed the story and said Taabikina was brought to the hospital in a critical condition but doctors worked around the clock to save his life.
