Police caution public on mode of business transaction

Kumasi, Oct. 02, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Police Command has cautioned the public, especially businessmen to be wary of business transactions and activities that required the payment of large sums of money in the evenings, at dawn and during the night except they have good security.

A press release issued in Kumasi on Monday and signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye of the Regional Police Public Relations Office, said the mode of operation of these businessmen was that they purchased machinery or transact businesses at drinking spots, restaurants and hotels.

It said some criminal-minded business partners who were in league with armed robbers and car snatchers had special interests in transacting business at odd hours under the pretext of too much work during the day and outwit their unsuspecting victims.

=93They then inform their accomplices to seize everything as soon as money is delivered and they have left the scene. In that case gaining twice and the person being robbed loosing property and money,=94 it added.

The release said these businessmen later shared their booty with the armed robbers after sympathising with the victims. It cautioned the public against transacting business with large sums of money after official banking hours, stressing that this posed a serious security risk to people in possession of such large sums of money, because they could be followed by criminals, attacked and robbed. 02 Oct. 06
