Gbese Mantse to be buried at last

Accra, Sept. 30 GNA – Baring any unforeseen circumstances the mortal remains of the late Nii Ayitey Agbofu II, Gbese Manste and Adoten of the Ga State, would be buried later in the day.

The late Gbese Mantse, who died at the age of 49, was born on August 18, 1953 to the late Robert Teiko Aryeetey of the Gbese Shia Wulu, Mantse Armaa Gate and Madam Elizabeth Oye Amoo, Nii Djanli Amoo We of Gbese.

Nii Agbofu had his basic elementary education at Chorkor Presbyterian Primary School and continued with his Middle school education at Ho, Evangelical Presbyterian School.

He further continued his secondary school education at the St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, where he obtained his “O” level certificate and later had admission to the Amedzope Teacher Training College where he obtained the Teachers Certificate 93A=94. Nii Agbofu was enstooled as Gbese Mantse at the age of 27 and reigned for 22 years and had six children made up of four boys and two girls.

The burial ceremony, which was held at the Forecourt of the Gbese Blohum in Ga Mashie, was attended by most of the Paramount Chiefs, Queen Mothers, Clan Elders and the various Asafo Companies that makes up the Ga States.

The colourful and peaceful occasion was blazed by incessant fontomfrom drums from five cultural troupes amid a relentless musketry from the Asafo companies as they accompanied the various chiefs to the ceremony.

The wife, children, family and chiefs paid tributes to the late Gbese Mantse.

Before the body of the late chief was conveyed to the burial grounds two bulls were slaughtered amid musketry while the Asafo companies chanted wars songs to show their valour and bravery.
