Driver jailed six years for stealing

Nkawie (Ash), Sept. 28, GNA – A circuit court at Nkawie has sentenced a 23-year-old driver to six years imprisonment for unlawful entry and stealing personal belongings worth six million cedis at Adiembra and Anhwiafutu near Nyinahin.

Godwin Kwadwo pleaded guilty to the charges. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Francis Kpaafah told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that Godwin, who was resident at Agric-Junction in Kumasi, on August 28, this year went to Anhwiafutu, broke into the room of Yaw Panin and stole his mobile phone and personal belongings worth three million cedis.

The prosecution said on that same day the accused entered the room of Madam Akua Konadu at Adiembra and also stole her personal belongings and her Amanano Rural Bank passbook containing 3.1 million cedis. Luck, however, eluded Godwin as he met Madam Konadu at the entrance of the room and took to his heels but was chased, arrested and handed over to the police at Adiembra.
