Israel and Lebanon must respect the ceasefire

Accra, Aug. 16, GNA – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and NEPAD, on Wednesday expressed the hope that Israel and Lebanon would respect the Security Council Resolution for a ceasefire as a step towards finding lasting peace in the Middle East.

The Foreign Minister observed that no matter how deeply entrenched a conflict might be it could always be brought to an end at some point. Nana Akufo-Addo was speaking on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra after attending and chairing a UN Security Council meeting in New York.

Ghana is holding the rotating presidency for the month of August. He said the session served as a good exposure for Ghana and “we did our best to be equal to the task”.

Nana Akufo-Addo said open debates on peace consolidation in West Africa brought to the fore matters concerning the Sub-Region.
