Brong Ahafo GJA elects Koomson as Regional Chairman

Sunyani(B/A), April 03, GNA – Mr Charles Koomson, Brong-Ahafo Regional Manager of Ghana News Agency (GNA) has been elected Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) unopposed. Mr Koomson was the only candidate who filed for the position at the close of nominations.

Mrs Rose Anderson, a Senior Reporter of GNA secured 13 votes to beat Mr Kwabena Asumin Gyamfi, Regional Chief Editor of Ghana Television who had three votes for the position of Vice Chairperson. Mr Samuel Doudu, a Reporter of Daily Graphic was elected Secretary, when he polled 13 votes to beat Mr Kingsley E. Hope, a Reporter of Ghanaian Times who had three votes.

Mrs Christiana Kumah, a presenter at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation was elected Treasurer when she polled 13 votes to beat Mr Samuel Kyei Boateng, Regional Editor of Daily Graphic, who had two votes. A ballot paper was rejected.

Mr Koomson pledged on behalf of his team to work hard to uphold the respect and integrity of media practitioners in the region. He called on journalists to be truthful and with objective in their work to help erase the erroneous impression that the public had about them.

Officials of the Electoral Commission in Sunyani supervised the elections.
