Takoradi Polytechnic Alumni inaugurated

Takoradi, Feb. 26, GNA – Takoradi Polytechnic Alumni Association was inaugurated on Friday with a call on stakeholders to complement government’s effort to develop tertiary institutions. Making the call, Reverend Daniel Nyarko, Vice-Principal of the school said stakeholders and government must work together to solve problems facing tertiary institutions, which impede their growth. He said the problems included lack of residential accommodation for both staff and students of tertiary schools.

Rev Nyarko said less than 20 per cent of students of Takoradi Polytechnic are accommodated on campus and the rest put up at private hostels.

He said residential accommodation for teaching and non-teaching staff is also a problem.

Reverend Nyarko urged the alumni association to pool resources to assist the Polytechnic when necessary. Later, he inaugurated a 7-member executive of the association with Mr Anthony Nab Hasford, as chairman and Miss Janet Ami Keku, secretary. The rest are Mr Samuel Seho-Ahiable, organising secretary, Miss Elizabeth Obeng, treasurer, Mr Emmanuel Okumi Andoh, co-ordinator and Mr Francis William French, campus co-ordinator and Mr Maxwell Sankah, council representative.

Twenty-four teaching and non-teaching staff of the Polytechnic were presented with various awards at the ceremony.
