DCE appeals for new bridge on River Abu on Tepa-Mankranso road

Tepa (Ash), Feb 22, GNA – Nana Eric Agyeman-Prempeh, Ahafo-Ano North District Chief Executive, has appealed to the Minister of Road Transport to build a new bridge to replace the current dilapidated one over River Abu on the 45-kilometre Tepa-Mankranso road.

He said the bridge, which was constructed many years ago is too narrow and poses danger to the fleet of vehicles using the road.

Nana Agyeman-Prempeh made the appeal when he conducted newsmen round the road being upgraded by Messrs P.W. Ghanem Construction firm. The DCE said because of the gold mining activities going on at Kenyasi in the Asutifi district in the Brong-Ahafo region, the road has become one of the busiest since linking Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo regions. He appealed to the government and for that matter the Ministry of Road Transport to take immediate action to avoid any more accident as one occurred about three months ago due to the bad nature of the bridge. The accident claimed one life while four others sustained serious injuries when a taxicab plunged headlong into the river in an attempt to cross it.
