Advent Anglican Church celebrates first anniversary

Ashaiman, Dec. 12, GNA – Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Minister of Defence has identified corruption, indiscipline and insanitary conditions as the three main issues affecting the country’s socio-economic development. He therefore, stressed the need for Ghanaians, especially Christians to appreciate the principles of Christianity and lead honest, dedicated, selfless and disciplined lives to eliminate these social vices in society.

Dr Addo Kufuor made the observation when speaking at a thanks-giving service to mark the first anniversary celebration of the Advent Anglican Church at Michel Camp, near Tema. He reminded Christians of their responsibility to lead the way for others to follow adding ” Government’s effort towards the country’s socio-economic development would be meaningless unless Christians live lives worthy of emulation.” The Defence Minister said although Ghana had been blessed with many natural resources it could only attain its true destiny and better standards of living for the people, “when we all work hard, serve the Lord with cheerful hearts and love our neighbours as ourselves.”

Dr Addo Kufuor acknowledged contributions of the Church in national development and appealed to Anglicans in the country to mobilise resources to support the Church to establish a Technical University for graduates from the Junior, Senior Secondary and Polytechnics. The Right Reverend Daniel Sylvanus Allotey, Anglican Bishop of Cape Coast, in a sermon urged Christians not to limit their worship to the church but extend it to the society to win more souls for Christ. He advised Christians to eschew division and in fighting over trivial issues but endeavour to ensure peace and unity in the country.
