Court jails rapist for 23 years

Tarkwa, (W/R) Nov. 23, GNA – A Tarkwa circuit court presided over by Mr John Aject Nassam, has jailed a 29-year-old farm labourer; 23 years, for raping a woman in the bush.

Azumah Kusasi was sentenced on his own plea. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Jonathan Adotey of Tarkwa Police said Kusasi who lives at Nyametease near Wassa Akropong in the Western Region, met the victim, Ms Ama Ntobea on a bush path on November 17, this year and threatened to kill her if she refused to have sex with him.

The victim resisted, but she was over powered by Kusasi, who pinned her down and forcibly had sex with her. After the act the victim went to inform her brother who in turn reported the case to the Police. Chief Inspector Adotey said, the accused was arrested and during interrogation, he admitted the offence.
