Painter remanded in custody for defilement

Nkawie (Ash), Nov 23, GNA – The Nkawie Circuit Court has remanded a 48-year-old painter in prison custody for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.

Owusu Ansah popularly called “Africa Painter”, who pleaded not guilty will re-appear on November 30.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joseph Gabienu, told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that at about 1900 hours on October 25, this year, the victim was sending food to her grandfather when Ansah lured her into his room and forcibly had sex with her. The prosecution said after the act, the accused warned her not to disclose it to anybody. However, on November 3, her aunt, Madam Edna Ansah had information about the act confronted the victim who narrated how she was abused.

ASP Gabienu said based on the confession, Madam Ansah reported the case to the police leading to the arrest of the accused. He said the victim led the police to the accused’s house and was able to identify the pair of shorts Ansah wore before the defiling her.
