Headmaster hails Government education policy

Mozano (CR), Oct 20, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Tsibu, Headmaster of Mozano Secondary School in the Gomoa District of the Central Region, has commended the Government for introducing the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) to boost educational pursuit. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Mozano, Mr Tsibu said the FCUBE, the President’s Special Initiative on Distant Education and the upgrading of 31 schools into model senior secondary schools were in the right direction.

He called on Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliations to rally behind these programmes to ensure their success, adding, the end results would be “smiles on the faces of Ghanaians”. The Headmaster said the Mozano Secondary School, which took off in 1993 with a population of 60, now, has 640 boys and 560 girls. He mentioned accommodation for staff and students as one of the teething problems facing the school.

Mr Tsibu said some of the staff reside at Agona Swedru while the students commute from Mozano, Kokofu, Tarkwa, Abodom, Hasowodze and Abamkwaim to school.

He appealed to the Government, the District Assembly, the Ghana Education Trust Fund, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.

Madam Sarah Baah-Odoom, Assistant Headmistress said the determination of the students to succeed in their academic pursuit was high, however lateness, absenteeism, indiscipline, and unexpected pregnancy are some of their problems confronting them.
