Delays in visa processing -US Embassy

Accra, Sept. 26, 2005 – The US Embassy on Monday announced that there would be unusual delays in processing and printing of visas due to computer problems.

“Due to unresolved problems with computer communications between our facilities in Accra and Washington, the U.S. Embassy Consular Section regrets to inform the public that there will be unusual delays this week in the processing and printing of U.S. visas,” the US Embassy said in a statement issued in Accra.

It said so far, the delay has affected all visas approved between September 21 and September 26, no matter what date applicants were told to collect their passports and visas.

“We have been working non-stop to repair the system and apologise for any inconvenience the disruption may cause.

“As soon as the computer system has been repaired, we will immediately print all currently approved visas and have them ready for collection that same day. The U.S. Embassy will issue an announcement through the press once visa processing begins again.”
