Mobile phone snatcher jailed

Sekondi, Sept 20, GNA – A magistrate’s court in Sekondi on Monday sentenced Kojo Ibrahim, aged 24 years to two year’s imprisonment for stealing a mobile phone valued at 700,000 cedis. The accused pleaded guilty to stealing the Nokia mobile phone the property of Samuel Antwi.

Inspector Isaac Otchere told the court that on September 10 Ibrahim attacked Antwi 2230 hours and snatched his mobile phone. At the same court Nana Friko Yaw Wilhelm, an estate developer, was sentenced to a fine of 1.8 million cedis for careless driving and negligently causing harm.

He pleaded guilty and will go to prison for six months if he fails to pay the fine.

Inspector Otchere told the court that on October 28, 2004 Wilhelm, who was driving his car, knocked down one John Cobbina. He sustained injuries, was admitted at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital and was discharged on January 28 2005. 21 Sept 05
