Police warn abandoned vehicle owners

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA – Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Victor Tandoh, Commanding Officer of Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on Tuesday asked drivers and owners of vehicles who have abandoned their articulator trucks/trailers along the Achimota Motorway and Achimota Overhead Bridge to remove them immediately.

He said the removal of the vehicles were necessary to avoid accidents there.

A statement signed by Chief Superintendent Tandoh said some of such trailers and articulator trucks were abandoned when the owners found that they were either no more serviceable or not needed immediately. “Any driver found using the shoulders of the Motorway as Lorry Park or station commits an offence and will be prosecuted”, the statement said.

It said personnel of the MTTU would intensify enforcement of the law in such areas and offenders would face sanction.
