W/R gets 14.4 billion cedis for stool lands

Sekondi, Aug. 26, GNA – Mr Patrick Amoah, Administrator of Stool Lands in the Western Region has said that his outfit collected a total of 14.4 billion cedis from timber, ground rent, royalties and concessions between January and June this year.

He said apart from the Sefwi Ahwiaso, Suaman, Dadieso and Sefwi Wiawso, whose monies are being withheld due to chieftaincy disputes all the others have been duly credited with their share of the royalties. Mr Amoah announced this at a meeting of heads of government departments with the Western Regional Minister at Sekondi on Friday. He said to boost revenue collection; a new office had been opened at Asankrangwa while plans were underway for the opening of land secretariats at Wassa Akropong, Sefwi Wiawso, and Wassa Fiase. Mr Amoah appealed to individuals who had acquired lands to ensure that the necessary documentation on their lands was done to enable the Administrator to raise more revenue.

He said the National Secretariat of the unit had released 100 million cedis to the Regional office for the demarcation of farmlands of tenant farmers in the Sefwi area. 26 Aug. 05
