Gowrie (U/E), Aug. 19, GNA- The Gowrie Secondary/Technical School in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region has been plagued by problems, which require immediate solution to promote academic work. Mr. Dudacus Afegra, Headmaster, who said this in an interview with the GNA, cited the lack of staff accommodation, girls’ dormitory, science laboratory, dinning hall and means transportation as the pressing needs of the educational institution.
He said the only vehicle, which had been used by the Wenchi District Education Directorate 15 years ago, and re-allocated to School, had broken down.
Mr Afegra commended World Vision International for constructing a girls’ hostel for the school, which accommodated 90 out of the 175 female students.
He appealed to philanthropists, the Regional Minister, Mr Boniface Gambila, the Bongo District Assembly and non-governmental organisations operating in the region to come to the aid of the school. Established in 1991 with an initial student population of 20, the school now has a student population of 425 with 22 teaching staff.
