Gomoa Tarkwa (CR), Aug 10, GNA – Mr Isaac Afful-Brew, National Chairman of the Gomoa Tarkwa Youth Association has appealed to Chiefs not to see Youth Associations as a threat to their authority. They should rather encourage them to serve as a rallying point for development, he said at the annual Ahobaa-Kese Festival of the Chiefs and people of the town.
The festival is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifice of Ahor, a citizen of Gomoa who offered his life to save the Fantes from a plague. Mr Afful-Brew urged resident citizens not to regard Youth Associations as groups for non-residents but to join them to contribute to the development of their communities.
“Our elders have played their part, it is now our turn and we can do better if come together to pull our resources and strength,” he stated.
Mr Isaac Arhin of the KDC Forex Bureau in Accra urged well-to-do citizens to contribute towards the development of their hometowns. Nana Egyir Akomanyi V, Chief of the town appealed to the Methodist Church to convert the Vocational Training Institute it planned to establish in the town into a Teacher Training College.
Nana Mankattah III, Tufuhene of Gomoa Tarkwa, appealed to the people to register with Gomoaman Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to enjoy quality health-care.
