Wenchi (B/A), June 21, GNA – Nana Addo Kumanin Kese, the Tufuhene of the Wenchi traditional area, has asked the people not to do anything to disturb peace in the area. He said even though the area does not have a paramount chief a substantive District Chief Executive (DCE), which was affecting the development, there was the need for the people to be circumspect in their activities.
Nana Kese was speaking to the GNA at Wenchi at the weekend following agitation by a section of the people against the nomination of Mr Bintu Ibrahim Farizana as the DCE for Wenchi District by the President. He reminded the people that even though they claimed that they do not know the President’s nominee, the final approval of his nomination rested with the assembly members.
Nana Kese, therefore, cautioned the people not to take the law into their own hands but allow the assembly members to exercise their constitutional mandate. Nana Kese urged the people to collaborate with the Kingmakers and religious leaders to pray for the enstoolment of a paramount chief that would be acceptable to everyone.
He appealed to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to establish a vocational institute in the area to train the youth in employable skills and gave the assurance that land would be provided for such a project.
