Kufuor urged to learn from Mbeki

The Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative says President Kufuor must take a cue from his South African counterpart, Thabo Mbeki and demonstrate his commitment to fight corruption.

Mr. Mbeki stunned the world on Tuesday when he dismissed his deputy, Jacob Zumah, amidst concerns that he may be implicated in corruption charges.

President Kufuor has declared a policy of zero-tolerance for corruption.

But his critics say he?s merely been paying lip service to combat corruption.

President Kufuor says his government will not go investigating any allegations of corruption not backed with evidence.

His critics have accussed him of shielding his people because that statement.

With Mr. Mbeki?s sudden decision to get rid of his long-time ally, the Inetrgrity Initiative boss, Daniel Batidam says the South African leader has shown the way for African leaders like President Kufuor.
