Mabang (Ash), June 15, GNA – Women in small-scale businesses have identified the difference between working capital and profit at a day’s seminar on business management at Mabang in Ashanti. The 35 participants agreed that their ignorance was due to their lack of managerial skills and suggested that management training schools be established in the regions to train small-scale entrepreneurs. The workshop was organised by Ahafo Community Development Agency (ACODA), an NGO, at Mabang in Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti Region.
The participants, most whom were beneficiaries of the Poverty Alleviation Fund, have been unable to repay their loans due to the lack of requisite management skills to guide them to operate their business efficiently.
They suggested that small-scale entrepreneurs must undergo some basic business training that would help them to build their capacities to achieve business goals before they are granted loans.
Mr Kyei Sarpong, the Chief Executive of ACODA, said unemployment was a major problem facing the youth and announced plans by the Agency to train street children in vocations to enable them to acquire employable skills. 15 June 05
