Accra, May 31, GNA – The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on Monday handed over a saloon car to the Ghana Police Service to enable it carry out patrols at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) and its precincts.
Nii Adumansa-Baddoo, the Acting Director General of GCAA, said one of the key components that would help make KIA the gateway and hub to the sub region is the provision of adequate security for users of the airport as well as maintaining a passenger/visitor friendly environment and services.
He said GCAA has been taking measures to curb the activities of unofficial porters, beggars, lunatics and other undesirable elements at the airport but had faced a lot of challenges and would therefore need the services of the police to augment security at the airport. Nii Adumansa-Baddoo said the police had over the years worked in collaboration with the GCAA to provide security for all land side activities.
Mr A.K. Gyabaah, Commissioner of Police in charge of Technical and Services, said all over the country, companies, organisations and district assemblies have provided logistic support to the police and expressed the Police Service’s appreciation to the GCAA for the vehicle.
