Church inaugurates Circuit

Sunyani May 23, GNA – The Right Reverend Kwame Omane Achamfour, Diocesan Bishop of Sunyani of the Methodist Church at the weekend exhorted Christians to lead lifestyles that would reflect their faith as true followers of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He noted with regret that certain negative practices had gradually crept into the lives of Christians, particularly the mode of dressing, which he said did not augur well for their positions as apostles of the Word.

The Methodist Bishop was preaching at the inauguration of the Nkwabeng Circuit of the Church in Sunyani.

Rt. Rev Omane Achamfour urged members of the church to see the inauguration of the circuit as a new birth in their lives as Christians and jettison lifestyles that did not give any good account of themselves as the “Light of the World”.

“Let us re-define, re-direct our energies, faith as Christians and help to spread the Word of God”, he said.

The Bishop spoke against unproductive social activities “that rather tend to make us poorer” and cited expensive weddings as a phenomenon that was ridding the society of worthy values. He noted that such “expensive” weddings had rather scared young men from marriage and the result had been the large number of young men and women without husbands or wives.

“Let us be modest in our dealings since Our Lord Jesus Christ whom we aspire to follow was himself modest in whatever he did in the world”, the Bishop said.

The Bishop and some other deserving members were presented with awards for their contributions to the growth of the church at the circuit and in the region.

Present were Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and a host of Reverend Ministers of the church.
