Vulcanizer jailed for harming a taxi driver

Koforidua, April 14, GNA – A Koforidua High Court has sentenced Ebenezer Dongoty, a vulcanizer, to seven years’ imprisonment for stabbing a Somanya taxi driver, Mr Daniel Tetteh. Dongoty pleaded not guilty to intentionally and unlawfully causing harm with an offensive weapon.

Prosecuting, Mr Anthony Gyambiby, a Chief State Attorney, told the court on July 15 last year, Dongoty boarded Tetteh’s taxi at Somanya to Ogome, near Odumase-Krobo, and forcefully banged the door. He said Mr Michael Obene, a passenger, told Dogonty that what he did was wrong.

When Dongoty alighted at Ogome, he again banged the door and this resulted in a quarrel between him and Mr Obene.

Dongoty then rushed at Tetteh with a knife and stabbed him in his abdomen, forcing his intestines to gush out.
