Five-man watch committee formed

Brakwa (C/R), March 4, GNA – A Five-man watchdog committee has been formed at Brakwa in Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa District to assist to clamp down the activities of criminals and pupils who play truancy during school hours.

Members of the Committee are Kojo Yeboah, 24, Kofi Siaw, 24, Kojo Akyirefi, 28, Kwame Frank, 28 and Kwasi Tawiah, 27.

The leader of the team, Kojo Yeboah told the GNA that since the formation of the committee about two month ago they had foiled the activists of a goat stealing syndicate by patrolling the community at night, adding that, that five persons were before Breman Asikuma Magistrate Court while one was on the run.

Kojo Yeboah said parents had been called to escort their children who failed to attend school to do so.

Chief Inspector Gershon K. Awuyeh in-charge of the Brakwa Police confirmed that the team was helping the Police. The team appealed to the District Assembly for incentives and equipment like torchlights to enhance their operations.
