Ashanti Building and Civil Contractors Association elects new officers

Kumasi, Feb. 25, GNA – Mr Kwame Afreh was on Friday re-elected chairman of the Ashanti Region branch of the Association of Building and Civil Contractors of Ghana (ABCCG) for a second four-year term. He was returned unopposed in the election held under the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC) at the Centre for National Culture in Kumasi.

Other officers elected were Messrs James Yaw Oppong, Regional vice-chairman, Tony Asante Gyinae, secretary, John Agyapong Mensah, organiser, Eric Tsa, trustee and Madam Agnes Ofori, treasurer with Nana J.E. Nsiah as advisor.

Mr Afreh expressed his gratitude to the members for their confidence and trust and pledged to work relentlessly towards transforming the Association into a vibrant one. “Our vision is to get all contractors united and speak with one voice as it is only through this that we would be taken seriously”, he added.

Mr Afreh noted that if they did not present a strong and united front, it would not only be difficult to protect the interest of the local contractors but also bring sanity and efficiency into the construction industry.

Nana Nsiah on his part advised the contractors to rally solidly behind the elected executive to enable them to deliver.
