Farmer granted 100 million cedis bail for defilement

Tema, Jan. 22, GNA – A 55-year-old farmer at Sege, who lured a 14 year old girl with five thousand cedis and had sex with has been granted 100 million cedis bail by the Tema circuit court ‘A’.

Joseph Viglo pleaded guilty and will reappear on February 22, 2005. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that, in September 2004, the accused who was staying in the same house with the victim became friendly with her. He said the accused during that time gave five thousand cedis to the victim, lured her into his room and forcibly had sex with her four times.

Inspector Otchere said on September 26, the victim complained of abdominal pains to her mother, and mentioned that the accused as the one who had sex with her.

A report was made to the Dawa police, and medical form was issued to the victim for treatment at hospital, and the accused was later arrested.
