FC Samartex Ladies were forced to settle for a point after opening their 2026/27 Goldfields Ghana Women’s Premier League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Epiphany Warriors at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday.
The Timber Giants Ladies had hoped to begin the new season with a home victory after narrowly avoiding relegation during their first campaign in the top flight. Despite controlling large periods of the match, however, they could not turn their chances into goals.
Samartex created several promising opportunities and had enough openings to claim all three points, but the visiting defence remained resilient. Epiphany Warriors’ goalkeeper was particularly impressive, making a series of important saves to frustrate the home side and preserve a valuable away point.
The visitors also threatened at times, but Black Queens first-choice goalkeeper Cynthia Findib Konlan responded whenever she was needed. Her crucial interventions ensured Epiphany Warriors were unable to find a way through and helped keep the match scoreless.
The result was the only Southern Zone fixture in the Women’s Premier League that ended without a goal, with both teams taking a share of the points.
For Samartex Ladies, the draw provides a point from which to build as they seek to recover from last season’s difficulties and establish themselves more securely in the competition.
Their next opportunity to claim a first victory will come on Matchday Two, when the Timber Giants Ladies travel to face Oak FC.
