Accra Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey says he is ready to represent Ghana if selected for the Black Stars’ 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Somalia.
The 25-year-old centre-back has established himself as an important part of the Phobians’ defence during the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, helping the club maintain a strong backline as they pursue success in the competition.
Asibey’s performances have also brought individual recognition. He has won three consecutive NASCO Man of the Match awards, receiving the honours after matches against Vision FC, Port City FC and Basake Holy Stars.
The defender spoke about his international ambitions after Hearts of Oak defeated Basake Holy Stars on Friday, October 23.
“As long as I am a citizen of the Republic of Ghana, I am ready, whenever the nation needs my services, I’ll come and serve the nation very well,” Asibey said.
His comments come as Ghana prepare for a crucial two-match qualifying contest against Somalia. The Black Stars will face Somalia on November 12 and 16 in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Asibey will hope his consistent displays for Hearts of Oak are enough to earn him a place in the senior national team squad. The defender has been central to the club’s defensive efforts and has continued to attract attention through his performances in the league.
Ghana’s upcoming fixtures have been described as a must-win double-header, increasing the importance of the squad selection as the Black Stars pursue qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
