President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana’s policy of non-alignment has enabled the country to maintain positive relations with partners around the world and welcome investment from all regions.
Speaking at the Financial Times Africa Summit 2026, Mr Mahama said Ghana was not seeking to choose between competing international powers. Instead, he said the focus was on securing investment that delivered a fair return for both investors and the country.

The president urged investors from different parts of the world to consider Ghana as a destination for their capital. He said the country was prepared to work with international partners where there were shared interests and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Mr Mahama stressed that the origin of an investment was not Ghana’s main consideration. The key issue, he said, was whether a project could provide a fair return to both the investor and Ghana.
“We are friends to all and enemies to none. And Ghana’s policy of non-alignment has served us well and so we welcome investors from all over the world. It is not about competition. It is about investment and a fair return to everybody, including ourselves,” he said.
He added that Ghana maintained friendly relations with a range of international partners, including America, the European Union, China and Russia.
“And so that is the condition. There is no competition. We are as friendly to America, to EU, to China, and to Russia,” President Mahama said.
