Ghana international Mohammed Kudus registered his second Premier League assist of the season as Tottenham Hotspur beat Coventry City 3-1, although the forward’s performance was cut short by a suspected injury.
Kudus began Monday night’s match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and created the opening goal in the 14th minute. He found James Maddison on the edge of the penalty area, with the midfielder finishing to give Tottenham an early advantage.
The hosts were unable to maintain their control before half-time, however, and Coventry levelled shortly after the restart. Jack Rudoni reacted quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area in the 49th minute to give the visitors fresh hope of taking points from the match.
Tottenham regained the lead nine minutes later. Andrew Robertson supplied the pass for Omar Marmoush near the edge of the area, and Marmoush struck into the right side of the net in the 58th minute.
Coventry pressed for another equaliser but could not find a way through as Spurs held on to their advantage. Tottenham then added a third goal deep into stoppage time, when Ben Davies scored with a volley from the edge of the box in the 90th minute.
Dominic Solanke provided the assist for Davies’ late finish, completing the 3-1 scoreline and securing all three points for the home side.
The result was overshadowed by Kudus’ late departure. The Ghana forward appeared to suffer an injury in the 87th minute and was seen limping as he left the pitch. He was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski.
No details were immediately provided about the extent of the suspected injury, leaving uncertainty over Kudus’ condition after he had played a part in Tottenham’s opening goal.
His assist for Maddison was Kudus’ second in the Premier League this season and represented another positive moment in his return from a lengthy injury layoff. His involvement from the start also underlined his importance to Tottenham’s attacking set-up.
Kudus’ withdrawal will now be a concern for Spurs as they assess his fitness. The match report did not provide any further information about the injury.
Tottenham’s victory was built on contributions from several players. Kudus created the opener, Robertson played the pass for Marmoush’s decisive goal and Solanke supplied the final assist for Davies.
Coventry’s second-half equaliser briefly threatened to disrupt the hosts, but Marmoush’s goal restored Tottenham’s control before Davies sealed the win with the late volley.
